Le père était un ingénieur électrotechnique et le fils Jack suit les traces du père. En 1947 il est assistant électrotechnique à l'université de l'Illinois, ensuite en '50 se transfère à l'université du Wisconsin. Pendant ce j'achève période (47-58) est occupé prés de la maison Centralab, Milwaukee, WI là où travaille à dessine et je développe de matrices pour la sérigraphie sur la céramique. De 1958 il travaille au Texas Instruments en qualité de responsable de développe des circuits complétés, en '60 on nous commercialise premiers. De 1960 au 62 il est responsable du secteur réseaux à demi-conducteur, successivement directeur des laboratoires de recherche jusqu'à au 1970, au-delà cette de donnée te devient expert de part time. De 1978 à 1984 il est professeur prés du Texas A&M Université, Collège Station, TX en études d'ingénieurs électriques. 2000 prix Noble pour la physique
